More about this couple later!!
Lately I’ve been trying to master pushed film and I’m learning every attempt that trial and error is the only way to get there. On December 29, 2012 I headed towards Harrisonburg to visit Gold Crown Billiards Bar and Grill. Long time friend, and current New Yorker, Nick Pascarella, was to play a reunion show there with his old band, Annie’s Tragedy. What a perfect opportunity for pushed film!
Up to Now
2012 has indeed been exciting. I’ve spent much time this year redefining my artistic vision, exploring a vast array of different topics of study in the sciences as well as the arts, self-developing over thirty rolls of film, and in the latter part of the year, deciding how to begin to add high quality cinematography services to the package lineup.
Earlier this month I had the opportunity to work alongside Emily Sacra in photographing Andrew and Ashley’s wedding at Spring Meadows Farm.
Rory and Becah are such an amazing couple. In addition to being some of the nicest and most understanding people ever, they’re SO good at just being themselves (while ignoring that there’s a man with a funny looking beard and hairdo pointing a lens at them). I feel so fortunate to have been asked to capture the story of their October waterfront wedding in Virginia Beach. Enjoy!
I’ve been waiting to share this session for some time now. Before the cold set in, we met up with Jordan and Lisa for an engagement shoot in the woods. I had an idea for an engagement shoot involving a fire with s’mores, so we included it in this session of much variety. From sports to (pretending to be) playing music, to hiking, to flannels. . .Jordan and Lisa share many interests. It was very easy to identity with them on this issue! They were so very lovely to work! Aneila and I are excited to be filming their wedding within the next few years! Enjoy!
Back in October, we met up with Lee and Lauren at the venue of their wedding to capture their anniversary photos(their wedding was our first!). I planned for the shoot to happen on a rainy day, as I had some ideas for fun rain shots. For some weird reason, Lee and Lauren popped into my mind when I thought of rain on the Terrace at Mary Baldwin College. . .for those that don’t know the story, it POURED as Lauren entered the ceremony last year. Everyone ran. The ceremony was resumed inside the ballroom. Neither Lee’s nor Lauren’s smile disappeared though!! I was really impressed. Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see what I’m talking about! Enjoy!
Finally, a wedding close to home. I mean really close! The Barn at Aspen Grove was just a ten minute drive from our place in Elkton, Virginia. Not that I don’t like to travel(I love to travel), but it was nice to wake up and not have a long scary drive ahead of us to get the Jimmy and Meg’s wedding. The day was absolutely perfect, in every aspect. The September afternoon was not too warm, and not too cold. The family was great to work with, as was the DJ, venue owners, celebrant, and caterers (links to all at the bottom!). I’m so excited to share this wedding with you all!
I couldn’t resist sharing this image from today’s engagement shoot with Jordan and Lisa. They were so lovely to work with and I can’t wait to share the rest!
Before the cooler weather started moving in, we met up with Michael and Gracie to shoot some engagement photos. I really didn’t have much of a vision for a theme as the time approached, however, about thirty minutes before Michael and Gracie arrived I decided there at least needed to be lemonade. Aneila and I then walked outside and noticed an orchard across the field from our house. We never even knew it existed!! That was it. Everything else just fell into place.
